Con-G and a Return to Cosplay

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 25, 2013, 6:51 PM

So as some of you are aware, I have taken a hiatus from cosplay and conventions (a little over a year) Well as of this weekend my convention break has ended! I went to Con-G and had a wonderful time! (Ensuring I will be going to more conventions this year) A full report on the convention can be found here on my facebook page. be sure to follow my page, as I will be posting almost all new content there first until I can get my new website up and running!

Some of the highlights of the conventions were competing in the masquerade as Lady Eboshi with *vickybunnyangel as San, ~Kudrel-Cosplay as The Forest Spirit and ~lameasscosplayer as Ashitaka! We took Best in Class Masters, which was such a wonderful surprise! I will be posting a link to our video Masquerade skit as soon as the video gets posted! Also I did three photoshoots on the weekend (one in Eboshi and two in Fuka from Disgaea 4) So look forward to those photos! It has been so long since I have really had any new costumes, so having two for one weekend was wonderful! I also took some cosplay photos over the weekend of ~Hatless-Sheep, so some of those will likely be coming soon too! (Though they may be posted to the other account)

I will certainly be attending Anime North and Fan Expo this year. I am also considering trying to attend the Toronto Comic Con, but we will see how that goes with my school schedule. I plan on trying to make a new costume or two for each of these cons so there should be a lot of new content coming over the year! I have been bitten with the cosplay bug all over again so I am really gung ho about things!

That's about it for now~
Catch you later,
~Lee

Happy Hallowe'en!

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 31, 2012, 11:12 PM

So first and foremost, Happy Hallowe'en to everyone!

This would be the pumpkin I carved quickly when I got home tonight! I was freehand cutting and didn't feel up to trying to freehand two eyes that looked the same so he ended up with a scar XD Also I only had about twenty minutes to carve the thing so I had to be quick about it! Still I am pretty pleased with him! Thanks so much to David for the awesome shot!

Now sadly on to some bad news, due to the overly rainy and windy weather caused by Sandy this week David and I were unable to do the shoot we were planning on. And because next week is our first week in our new house it may be a while before we get a chance to get some photos done. We are going to try and get something in the next little while if we can, but it may be more of a wait than I would like! Also, I now have everything I need to put together a new costume using a bunch of things I had on hand, so the next shoot will likely be something completely new, not a re-shoot like I was thinking! A couple people know what the new costume is, but I am mostly trying to keep it on the down low until I have some photos to post! SURPRISE COSTUME WILL BE A SURPRISE!

There will also likely be a couple Lady Eboshi photos coming soon, as the wonderful *vickybunnyangel has set up a huge Studio Ghibli photoshoot on November 18th so I am hoping to get a couple pictures of my costume then! This is something that has been years in the making and I am dying to finally wear it somewhere and get some pictures~

But yes so sorry that nothing will be coming too soon guys! Until I start school I mostly only get to see David on weekends as he works during the week, and I usually work every weekend so photos are tricky to get! Especially when we are getting a new house all set up for us to move in! I will certainly try my hardest to get something though! So fingers crossed, I will get something new posted here before too long!

~Lee

So much for timely updates ^^:

Journal Entry: Fri Oct 26, 2012, 4:47 PM

Well, my timely updates seem to have fallen flat! Sorry about that guys! I went through a bit of a down period in cosplay. I didn't go to any conventions this year and have done no photos. I have been working on things, but not the same way I used to. That is changing again though! I have been bitten by the cosplay bug again and have got rather gung-ho about a whole bunch of things!

First and foremost I am sure you have all noticed I started a poll to see what costumes you guys would like to see a re-shoot of! My boyfriend keeps telling me he wants to try his hand at shooting cosplay portraits (he shoots mostly landscapes) and I want to get more photos done so we are going to try and go out and get some done this weekend! Hopefully between work and baby cousin's birthday we will have time! We'll see! I am also off for three days at the beginning of the week so I can head up to his place and perhaps get shots one night after he works!

I am thinking Princess Jupiter will actually be the one that ends up getting shot this week! Not only because it is currently winning the poll, but because I have never done a real shoot in it, and I do plan on retiring it shortly and completely remaking it. I think I did a great job on it for the time it was made, but my skills have developed since then and I can do much better now I am sure! We'll see though, I am not positive yet! The rest will also certainly get shots done... I am just not sure when ^^; certainly, not this week! I am sure we will only have time for one set of photos this week! And I think I will use the poll for a guideline of what order to shoot in!

In other photo shoot news I am planning to do a shoot with Cooking Mama finally as soon as David and I move into our new place (We are getting the keys on the 1st) I finally have a pretty kitchen that I think will work for those photos! I figure I can cook us an awesome meal and get some photos done in the process! Also I plan on doing a Sandman shoot soon with my current Dream costume. I do want to make a few other Dream costumes, but I have been meaning to shoot this one for quite a while now! I have so many photo ideas swirling in my head, I just need to get them out!

In terms of new costumes, I want to finish up EVERYTHING I have fabric and supplies for (most of those can be found in my Upcoming Costumes page on facebook) There are a few more things I have supplies for that aren't on there, but those are most of them! I have to use what I have as opposed to spending money on new things for a while. I am getting rather ridiculous in terms of fabric hoarding! I will admit I did buy a wig and fabric yesterday to make a new costume :s I just couldn't help myself! But after that I am cutting myself off! I need to use what I have! I don't have money to buy other things!

I think that is all I have to put in the update for now!

Cheers,
~Lee

A More Timely Update

Journal Entry: Wed Feb 22, 2012, 10:21 PM

So as the title states this is a more timely update than usual for me. First things first, I have to say I was incredibly surprised by the results of the "Which Sailor Scout" poll I posted a while back. I am not surprised that Sailor Jupiter won.. I completely expected that.. but I did expect it to be by a larger margin, and everything after that was a complete shocker. I did not expect Mars to be number two! Nor did I think certain scouts would get any votes, like Moon and Mini Moon (I could pull of Mini Moon!? REALLY!? I am almost six feet tall! 0,o') I really wish more people had stated their reasons for voting certain ways. I would really love to hear why people think I can pull off certain scouts. It did however make me think that I may have more options of scouts I can pull off than I thought I did (though truth be told I don't think Moon or Mini moon are ever going to happen)

In other cosplay related news I have become ridiculously addicted to the Disgaea Games. My Boyfriend David had been playing the first one ported over to the DS and it looked like a lot of fun, so my new room mate (or should I call him a tenant?) allowed me to borrow his! I have played over thirty eight hours of it and have now acquired all three of the other core Disgaea games. I absolutely LOVE Fuuka's design from Disgaea 4 and have started picking out fabric and wigs for it, once I am finished the first one I plan on moving onto the fourth (I know I know I don't usually play games so grossly out of order) I only want to play that one now so I can find out if I actually like the character! If it turns out I like the character as much as I like her design there is a very very strong possibility I will be cosplaying as her at some point this year! (I am thinking for Anime North if I do in fact end up attending this year)

If I do end up going to Anime North I am thinking new costumes *may* be Wanda from Fairly Oddparents, Fuuka from Disgaea 4 and possibly something else listed in my last journal entry. Ideally I would like to get a lot of the things I have started and have the supplies for done this year. Though I always say that and it still doesn't happen! **must get better at that** However with Wanda (a costume I have had all the supplies for since last year) there has been some progress!

I stated in my last journal the intent to start props and I have in fact started some prop work! I started work on my Wanda wand and have got a pretty good start at it. I have the entire base done and now I just need to wait for warmer weather so I can fibreglass it. Progress picture can be found here in my facebook progress album. As it states on the images I do plan on making a full tutorial when I am done! Also please feel free to add me as a friend on facebook if you would like! I am always happy to make new friends!

Sadly there has not been so much progress on the website front.. Hopefully soon though!! **Need to poke David more about it** -^^-

I think that's all I've got for now!
Cheers,
~Lee

Cosplay Girl of the Year and Other Random Updates!

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 24, 2012, 1:26 AM

So it has been quite a while since I have updated... again! One day I will be good with updating things I swear!

So first things first, back in December I was featured on Comic Impact as their Cosplay Girl of the Month. Because of that feature I am now entered into their Cosplay Girl of The Year Contest. I would greatly appreciate any support I can get, so please drop by and vote! Also you can vote once a day so please feel free to spread the love around, there are a lot of amazing girls in the contest! I am simply honoured to have been featured!

In other cosplay related news, I am not entirely sure what the next year holds for me in terms of what conventions I will be going to, or even what costumes I plan on making. I am thinking a few of the definites for next year in terms of costumes are Wonder Woman, Sailor Pluto, Noki and Sailor Lethe. I will also be finishing up my Ame Comi Mera, though I really wish to take my time with everything for that one.. so given the fact that it is all scale maille it may not be finished this con season. I was also thinking I wish to fix up a few costumes and rewear them. I have been dying to wear Ruby Gloom again, but I really need to take it in a bit since it was too big when I made it and I have lost wait since then. In terms of conventions I have no clue at all.. I would like to try to attend San Diego Comic Con again, but everything else is very up in the air. There will likely be a few conventions at the very least, but I have no clue what they will be currently!

I will also hopefully be getting my butt in gear on a new website.. I know I have been saying that forever, but I swear it will happen! My website is so out of date it is not even funny! I believe it is getting close to a year out of date :S Anyways my boyfriend and I have been talking about him redoing my website. It's quite convenient because I would like a new website, and he would like some non work related websites to add to his portfolio! We keep throwing ideas back and forth about it so hopefully we will actually get down to business on it soon!

I am going to be starting some prop work soon too! So I will certainly be posting some photos of my prop work, and will more than likely start posting some tutorials if I come up with methods I like! I think I am going to start with either Sailor Pluto's Time Key or Sailor Jupiter's Transformation Pen. I want to get a little practice on something else before I start working on my Ame Comi Mera Trident.

But yes I think that's all I have to say for now!
As I stated at the beginning of this post any support for the Cosplay Girl of The Year Contest would be greatly greatly appreciated!

Toodles all,
~Lee

Where Did I Go? Who Knows~ But I'm Back Now!!

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 12, 2011, 11:53 AM

Bwaaaa okay so it has been entirely WAAAAAAAY too long since I have updated here! Four Months is entirely too long too leave a journal entry up here! (sometimes I'm really good with these, and some times I am horribly bad!) Actually it hasn't just been the journals, I have been basically away from DA all together the last few months and I shall hopefully be on a bit more over the next couple.

I do have a TON of stuff I would like to post here. So there will be quite a bit of things coming, I just don't want to flood them all onto here at once! I have received photos from four photoshoots I have done recently with a fifth one on it's way soon. All of different costumes so I've got quite a bit of new things I can post!

As for my website it is also insanely behind... I think I have.. five or six costumes that need to be posted, but I am still holding out for a new website and am not entirely sure what to do! I don't want to pour too much time into the one I have now only to have to do the work all over again for the new one. So nothing new there for now but I assure you guys something will be happening soon hopefully!

New and exciting things costume wise I am working on an insanely detailed Ame Comi Mera costume! I am doing the entire shirt and fin out of scale maile and have been rather obsessively working on the crown! That is really going to be my main focus for next years con season I think (at least for things I am working on for myself)There are a good number of shots of what I have done so far in my Progress and Stuff album on Facebook

There are a few other things I would like to finish up. My Navi from Legend of Zelda. I wore it to Anime North last convention season, but it was no where near finished. I am hoping to spend some time this year to finish up some things.. Hopefully the things I have been working on in the past still fit! I have lost a rather unfortunate amount of weight (from illness not from me actually actively trying to loose weight... I just want to eat a sammich XD )

I'm not entirely sure what conventions I will be hitting next year. I have a whole lot of nothing really set in stone after FutureCon this year. I am sure I will be at a couple, just not sure what and when!

I also think I am going to dial back the commissions I take next year, as I ended up having no time to work on my own things as I was doing too many for other people! So commissions slots will be limited next year! If you want something, I suggest contacting me rather early!

An Update this Quickly? What the Deuce?

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 9, 2011, 9:46 AM

So I know this is really weird for me, two updates within a short amount of time from one another! But I kept meaning to post this and then forgetting!

I will be having a kiriban at 25,000 page views!

Who ever gets it will receive a custom made hat (or small plushie.. what ever floats your boat) of what ever they want! All you need to do is be my 25,000 page view, grab a screen capture of it, and send it on my way! I am going to specify that only my watchers will be allowed to participate in this. I would like to give this to someone who actually supports my work. My little way of giving back to you guys!

Also just a little bit of an update about commissions, I have had tons of requests for commissions through to the end of the summer (and into the beginning of fall) so if you were considering commissioning me for something, I would request doing it soon, before I have no more commission slots left! Feel free to shoot me a message via the commissions section down at the bottom of this journal if there's anything you were looking for!

But yes that is really all I have to mention for now!
Toodles,
~Lee

An Update? What is this nonsense? Also Anime North

Journal Entry: Sun May 29, 2011, 8:44 PM

Hello all! Once again it has been a very long time in between updates ^^; I am starting to think that is just going to be my norm from now on.

SO I have nothing overly huge and exciting to report on. Fixing up a couple costumes, starting some new ones and now I am super pumped for convention season again!

Anime North was this weekend, and I actually had a way better time than I expected to, even with all the stress and drama there was throughout the weekend. I've never really had a great time at Anime North before, I never went last year, and I actually assumed this year was going to be a blast! I never got Navi %100 completed, and I'm okay with that~ I had a blast running around in it anyways.. and I figure this is a "test run" for later!

Other than that I had a pretty relaxing weekend. Friday I had a lovely spa date with the always fabulous *vickybunnyangel then went for sushi with ~x-mywishingstar, then Saturday a group of us decided it was a good time for late night steaks so X-mywishingstar, *paper-stars, ~lameasscosplayer, ~PinkCarbon and Cory all went to Milestones for yummy yummy awesome fun late night meeeeat! (also amazingly yummy apple crumble) It was also nice and relaxing having a hotel with X-Mywishingstar, Paper-stars and *Red-Ribbon-Cosplay. No mess, no stress and all around welcoming room (I hate having too make people crammed into a room) It was so nice to see so many people! And I'm so sorry to those of you I missed! Hopefully I will get a chance to see everyone again soon! More of an actual update will be coming to my website shortly (either later tonight or tomorrow)

In other cosplay related news I will likely be finishing up Navi for Otakuthon, which will be super! I think that is a much better venue for big wings anyways XD Also there will be shots of my Ichigo from Katamari Damacy coming soon! I am so so so excited to see the photos! I did them with the always amazing Solar Tempest Also I will likely be starting on some new and different things soon, which I am excited about! There will be new hats I have made being posted soon, as well as some other little crafty sewing things I have been doing (though those may be posted over on the art account) The next thing for me is getting my butt in gear on commissions for the rest of the summer so I have some time to do my own things.

I think that's all I really have to say for now!
Toodles guys!

Journal Entry: Wed Mar 9, 2011, 11:49 PM

YAY JOURNAL SKIN! I love this skin! Like, insanely love it!! It was made for me by the wonderful and amazing *vickybunnyangel! A huge huge thank you goes out to her for making this wonderful skin for me ^^
She could not have come up with a skin that was more me!

Also, she is an absolutely amazing cosplayer and a drop dead gorgeous model! So as a thank you I am giving Vicky my first journal feature! At least first one in a long time. Here are some of my absolutely favourite pictures from her gallery.

As you can see she is pretty darn amazing, and her gallery is filled with so much more! So Everyone should definitely head over there and check it out~

In other news I have a new camera, booked my room and bought my badge for Otakon and I have a bit of a costume update, but I will update more on those in a few days when I am better rested!

Upcoming Conventions and Costumes

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 4, 2011, 10:02 PM
~~*~~LINKS~~*~~
*~*Website*~*

*~*Art Account*~*
~~*~~Sister Site~~*~~

Okay guys so this is just a little bit of an update. I figured I should post a little bit of an Upcoming costumes and events list! This year is going to be a little bit insane in terms of the conventions I am attending and the amount of costumes I plan on making! I have been getting a rather good head start on things so hopefully the year plays out the way I plan it to XD

My next convention is going to be the Wizard World Comicon in Toronto. I will likely be wearing Black Lantern Wonder Woman, Mera and Black Widow. my Mera may end up being Red Lantern Mera if I can't find a fabric I like for her normal outfit... I thought I had something for it.. but then after digging it out I was super displeased with it, so I have been hunting since then!

As for conventions after that my next big one is Anime North, and may I just say I have never been so excited about a convention! I am going to be a part of three amazingly wonderful groups! First is a Fairly Oddparents group where we have the entire core "family" (Timmy, Wanda, Cosmo and Poof) as well as a few extras!  Second is a HUGE Katamari group a friend of mine was organising! As it stands now we have about thirty people who have joined on (though I am sure several will either not get their costumes done or change their mind on doing them) but even if a bunch drop out there is still going to be a big amazing group of us! **Hell even if it was just me running around as a cousin I would have a blast!** And last but not least is a Zelda group! There are a whole bunch of us taking part in this too (though a couple of our members are keeping their costumes a secret so I can't go into detail about them) But I am going to be Navi! I am very very excited about my costume!! I have wanted to do an original fairy costume for a while now, and I figured getting to design my own outfit for an obnoxious bossy ball of light was a good start!

There are a ton more things I am planning on doing this year.. but instead of listing them all here I will point you in the direction of my websites "Upcoming Events" section! It has my full year on there (or at least what has be settled on so far) and what I plan on wearing to each event!

Last but not least in other D.A. related news, my Katamari head tutorial is almost done! After that I now have a huge huge list of other tutorials I plan on writing! I was also asked to join a cosplay tutorial youtube channel! So I will certainly post here when things start being set in motion with that!

Also before I go, this is a last call for commissions for the summer! I have... perhaps two or three more slots open for the entire summer. So if you are interested in it please shoot me a message **Commission info located below**
If by some off chance I finish things massively ahead of time I will open up some slots. But for now this is looking like it for the summer!

An Updatey Update (Filled With Katamari)

Alrighty.. so I have recently been holy crap swamped with commissions.. Which is both wonderful, and overwhelming! So if you want anything commissioned I would suggest contacting me as soon as possible. I am currently taking commissions for mid June and later.. though August is filling up insanely quickly. (as in three requests today alone quickly) I may open up some more early commissions slots if I can manage to get everything I have to do done earlier than expected, but I can make no promises about that.

In other news I have been visiting *paper-stars which is always lovely! We have been working on our Katamari cousins costumes for Anime North this year.. and I can't even properly express how insanely freaking excited I am for these costumes! I've got a bit of an explanation of what we've been doing on those costumes, as well as a bunch of pictures of what we've got done so far over on my websites journal.  We will be working on them a bit more tonight and hopefully will get our heads more or less finished tonight. I am going to make a tutorial on how we made our heads, so that will likely get posted within a week or so.

In other news, I have been crocheting a lot lately.. A whole bunch of weird random things.. so I will likely post a couple of those things over on my other DA account soon! My favourite thing I've made so far is an adorable little Jellyfish! I wanted to make him to hang on my purse... but I stupidly made him WAAAAY too big.. so I shall have to make another one XD

That's about it for this update. As usual there is more of an in depth update over on my website. So if you are curious as to what all is going on with my cosplays feel free to head on over there!

Also again Thank you to all my new watchers, and all the people who have favourited my things over the last little while! I ♥ you all ^^ Your support means so much to me!
Oh and if anyone would like to, feel free to add me on facebook! Lee Scion ^^
I update there the most with new costume things and progress pictures. So it is a very good way to see what I am up to!

Oh my goodness guys! I posted that Powerpuff Girls pictures before I went to bed last night and submitted it to a couple groups and woke up to find it had been requested in groups, viewed a whole ton and added to favourites more than I can keep up with. Thank you all so so much. I am so glad everyone likes it! It was apparently on the front page! I have never had anything on the front page before!

Of all the things to get flooded with action like that I never expected it to be that ^^ Thank you thank you thank you again!

Also thank you to every one for all the :+fav:s lately on everything in my gallery. Not just my New PPG picture. Also wow thank you to all my new watchers, I ♥ you guys all so much! I apologise that I no longer thank everyone personally, but I always tend to fall so far behind in sending thank you messages to people that the system thinks I am spamming and won't let me post too many. I'm always so bad at keeping up to date at responding to comments, so again I do apologise.

In other news I have quite a few things to post here over the next little while. Another shot of my Black Widow, my first shot from the Scarlet Witch photo shoot I did with ~stillvisions and a couple more Zatanna pictures. So I will likely be rather active the next little while.

I am working on a whole bunch of new things, I updated my website with all the info on that, so feel free to follow the link up at the top to read all about that.

I am going to sign off this journal with one last little note. I am currently getting a lot of commission requests, many more than I generally get this time of year so I figured it might be a good idea to post a comment here and let anyone who may be interested in commissioning something know that I am currently all booked up into the June. So if you would like a costume for June or later Please feel free to send me a message via the commissions section of my website (link down at bottom of journal) and I will get back to you as quickly as I can.

Thank you all so much again for all your support. It means so very much to me!

Cheers,
~Scion

~~*~~NEWS~~*~~
It has been forever since I last updated. A whole lot has happened since the last update. Fan Expo, which had a ton of new costumes, DragonCon which was insanely amazing on so very very very many levels, and also sported some new costumes, a zombie photoshoot in High Park, the Toronto Zombie walk which saw the death of my Zatanna costume and Halloween which brought along Black Lantern Wonder Woman. I am not going to delve into any real info in those for now.. it has been too long since a few of these events, and there is just too much that can be said.

I will go into the events from the end of October a bit though. Towards the middle of the month ~ACG-North-America had a cosplay gathering in Highpark. ~Stargazer-Gemini did a small little makeup tutorial for zombie makeup using ~x-mywishingstar and I as models, which made it possible for us to do an amazing zombie photoshoot later that day! There are a couple pictures of it floating around my gallery now ^^

The week after the photoshoot was the Toronto Zombie walk. I was hoping to have Black Lantern Wonder Woman done, however I ended up hitting so many bumps along the way putting that costume together that I ended up running out of time. instead I tore up my Zatanna costume and made myself a corpse Zatanna (there is also a picture of that in my gallery ^^ ) So my Zatanna has been destroyed, but I am hoping to remake it at some point this year.

The week after that was HALLOWEEN! I had my Black Lantern Wonder Woman mostly done, and accompanied a group of friends to the Silver Snail Halloween party! We won best overall costumes with our Black Lantern Group, which was pretty awesome! My costume was still missing a few pieces, so I am hoping to get it done and wear it again for the Wizard World Comicon in Toronto in March ^^ Then  I can get some nice pictures of it to post here **nods** There is one picture of it posted so far. Just a photo my friend Phil took at the party, but I like it none the less!

In other news I am waiting on a few photos from Fan Expo still. Scarlet Witch, Buttercup and a couple more of Riddler are still yet to be posted, so as soon as I get those I will be sure to post some here ^^

I also now have a completed Black Widow costume! I am hoping to do some photos with it before it starts to snow, so those should be coming shortly ^^ The body suit I made for Black Widow I am also planning on using for Catwoman and Black Cat. So I think I may get started on those shortly as well!
I am also currently working on The Snow card from Cardcaptor Sakura. I am doing a little bit of my own take on it, because it is not quite as detailed as I would like. That is being made for DTAC in the second weekend of December, so expect more about it when DTAC gets closer!

Now off to update the website!
Toodles,
~Scion

Hello guys!

*The-Cosplay-Scion here to let you all know we have decided on the winners for our Halloween contest! I will get to announcing those results and doing our journal features in just a moment. First off I would like to thank everyone who entered! All of our submissions were so wonderful we had a very hard time picking just three winners. We will be having another contest shortly, so we look forwards to seeing more of your submissions then!

BUT NOW! ON TO THE RESULTS!!

:bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack:

Our first place goes to the lovely ~Megami-Shiawase
Her piece In the Darkness wonderfully captured the feeling and spirit of Halloween. The entire costume and photo are perfectly executed, combining to make an absolutely wonderful photo.

Megami-Shiawase's gallery is filled with many many wonderful costumes and photos.
Including two amazing Ayanami Rei costumes

An absolutely exquisite Chii costume

Three wonderful Michiru Kaioh/Sailor Neptune costumes

And various other amazing costumes

Her amazing gallery speaks worlds about her work and should definitely be checked out.

:bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack::bulletorange::bulletblack:

Onto our second place winner is *Green-Makakas
With their absolutely amazing submission Umineko: Dinner For Two. Green-Makakas showed creativity and excellent execution in their submission including many wonderful little details.

Looking through their gallery, it becomes incredibly obvious that this attention to detail is a common trend in their work.

So busy busy busy. Costume stuff is trucking along! Last weekend was the cosplay picnic! Tricky Love and I went wearing my redone Howl (on Tricky) and my newly made Sophie Hatter (on me)! We also had a Plush Calcifer I made ^^ Good times were had XD Much much more of an update is on my website, and proper pictures should be coming soon ^^

As for upcoming costume things, Polaris is this weekend! I made a Donna Troy costume to wear to it, and I am just hoping that things work out so I can actually go! I’m aiming to get there for Saturday and Sunday, and hopefully things will work out that I can ^^

I also now have a few more commissions in the works, which is awesome! I’m really excited about them! I’m so so happy to be getting commissions more and more frequently!

But yeah that’s about it for an update for now! As I said there is a much bigger update over on the website so feel free to check it out ^^

Cheers,

Lots and Lots and lots of costume plans to mention!!

First of all I have got almost all the chain mail detailing for my Rydia done! All the trim around the first piece I started I got done the next day and then I started working on a couple larger pieces! Those larger pieces have since turned into cuffs for the sleeves. The cuffs are almost completely done, I need to add one more row of mail to the second cuff, but I’ve run out of rings and I seem to have bought all the rings the Michael’s in my area had in stock. So I have to wait a week or so for them to get more in so I can buy another pack and finish up the cuffs! Since I got all the detailing done so quickly I decided it was a good idea to make an overlay for the cape! So I went online a few days ago and placed and order for a couple thousand rings! I think it’s likely going to be a huge amount of work, but I think I’ll be able to do it ^^ I have huge amounts of time at work every day where I get paid to just sit around and that’s when I did all the rest of the mail work so I think I’ll be fine for getting it done in time :3 A look at some of what I have for my Rydia outfit can be found here.

There are a whole bunch of Final Fantasy costumes I’m hoping to get done in the next little while! I’m hoping to make a Selphie SeeD uniform. I love Selphie so much, and despite the fact that her outfits are rather simple I can’t help but want to make them! I also would love to rewear my regular old Selphie outfit again! I have a commission at the moment for Selphie’s yellow dress. Also as I’m sure I have stated before, I finally found the perfect fabric to remake my Lulu out of! I couldn’t believe how difficult it was to find a charcoal grey vinyl!! YEARS I HUNTED FOR IT!!!! But now that I have it I can’t wait to get started on it! I started my second wig a while back, I’m happy with it so far! Also I have parts of both Amano and Crisis Core Aerith done.. One day I will finish both of those!! Other than that there are tons of Final Fantasy costumes I would like to do, but none I have any near future plans of doing.

I recently finished reading Howl’s Moving Castle (and am now onto the first sequel Castle in the Air) and I loved it!!! It made so much of the movie make more sense! And Sophie is so so so cool in the book! Now I really want to do Howl’s Moving Castle cosplay again so I’m hoping to fix up my Howl costume. I’m taking it to be dry cleaned in hopes that the cookie I sat on at Anime North will come out.. I have washed the fabric so many times and tried so many different things and the stupid fudgee-o grease won’t come out! I want to be sure the grease is going to come out before I put the effort into fixing the coat, if it doesn’t I am just going to completely remake it. But once I have the costume fixed up I am going to stick Trickylove in it and make myself a Sophie costume ^^ I haven’t completely decided which yet, but I believe I will make the blue dress that Sophie wears and have the short silver hair :3 Tricky and I are planning to wear these to the Toronto cosplay picnic if I can get everything all finished up by then! I’m not making any promises about it but I really really hope I can get it done! I am so very very excited do these costumes!

The last costume that actually has a set event is Scarlet Witch! I’m really excited to do another comic costume! I have so much fun running around as my favourite Comic book characters! But yes I will be making Scarlet Witch for Fan Expo, yet again Trickylove will be accompanying me as Quicksilver and *paper-stars is going to be our half sister Polaris! I am insanely excited!!! I bought my wig and my tights today, but I still haven’t completely decided on which version I want to do. I think I may just make a sort of amalgam of the aspects I like from each of her outfits.  I found a pair of boots I absolutely love! They are not quite accurate but they are so so so amazing, so I may end up getting them anyways XD

Fan Expo is going to be so great this year I can’t wait! My goal is to actually get to do the masq again this year! I realised I haven’t actually been in a real masquerade in a couple years. Some times I’ve run out of time to sign up and others I have just not been happy with my costume, but this year I WILL DO IT! I miss it ever so much!

But I think that’s enough of an update for now!!

I also added a bit of an update to the website so there is a tiny bit more information there ^^

Ciao
~Scion

Alrighty so just a little bit of an update, since it has been a while. I never did end up going to Anime North.. life got WAY too crazy for that :( I had my Buttercup almost done, and then I realised I made a mistake, so I had to pull it apart and fix it (reinforced serged seams), but I had no time to do it, so it never got done... I didn’t even get to start on any of my other costumes. I did however get my commissions done, which was great! Now Buttercup has been moved to a photo shoot at Fan Expo with the rest of the group ^^ I am very very excited!!! I love love love my wig! I may get pictures of just Buttercup at some point in time before Fan Expo, just so I can add it to my website.

Speaking of the website the new Zatanna picture has yet to be added to it. I went to add it just before posting it here only to discover that my laptop case (along with my jump drive I store my website on) have vanished off the face of the earth. So as soon as I find those things I will update my site -^^- I have been staying at my mom’s house the last little while (it’s much much faster to get to work from here and I’ve had people staying with me so the extra bed space here has been a plus) and just heading back and forth to my house every now and then so it really could be anywhere.. I also lost my cell phone over the last couple days... So I’m feeling slightly flustered.. I just want to stop being stressed so I can stop loosing things!

.....

.....

Now back to more actual costume related news :3 I have started an Amano Rydia costume.. *paper-stars and I decided the other night that we wanted to do adult and child Rydia so today we went shopping for most of the supplies! We both got all our fabric and I have to say I am in love with all of them.. it is so so so hard for me to find green fabrics that work with my skin tone! Though I will say this I don’t know why I thought it was a good idea to get silks for mine. We also hit Michael’s and the local bead store to pick up beads and other fun things to fancy up our outfits! We finished up our jewellery for the costumes this evening and I have to say I am quite happy with how it all turned out! I think I may take a picture of them and post them in my costume pieces ^^ I also for some reason decided that using chainmail as trim was a good idea so I started working on it.. I used all the rings I had and only got about a foot of it done (over the course of a couple hours I might add).. which is only a fifth (give or take) of what I need for the area I wanted it to go around... HOORAY FOR CRAZY PLANS!!! On the plus side I think it will look great! Even though it is a metric crap ton of work =^o^= I am insanely insanely excited about these costumes!

In other costumey related news I’m working on a few more commissions, still trying to find time to make more hats and my hoodie (I also need to pick a hoodie to make :S) and I’ve started making a pokemon plushie for my baby cousin (Sudowoodo to be exact XD) It’s his favourite pokemon so I thought it would be nice to make him a plushie of it for his birthday that’s coming up ^^ My mother keeps calling Sudowoodo a sausage cheerleader, so now that’s all I can think of when I see him (THANKS A LOT MOM!)

Other than that there is not a whole lot new for me to mention!

Ta ta for now!
~Scion

~~*~~NEWS~~*~~
So the stupid stupid stupid pirate girl costumes I was making for the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really trying are done!! AND THEY LOVED THEM!!! I cannot express how happy I am to have those out of the way! I've done costumes for theatre before, but I had never taken on a task as big as that one -,-* I also can't express how happy I am they liked them, and the girls who wore them loved them too!! And being an actor myself I know how much it sucks to have to wear a costume you hate so it's so good they liked them! It's not that they were hard to make, but there were so many of them, and I thought I was never going to be able to finish them!! I'm going to see if I can get a picture of them to post here, but at the moment I have nothing, so it may take a while!

In other commission news I got contacted by a girl I had made a costume for last year for Anime North. This year she'd like me to make two costumes for her! I'm really excited! It's great to have repeat business ^^ This year I'll be making a Miku costume from Vocaloid for her, and Anya from Code Geass. I love doing commissions for conventions I'm actually going to, cause it means I have some spending cash XD

As for costumes for myself I've been working on Mistress 9 from Sailor Moon for MTAC next weekend. I'm close to done, I really just need to add the pearls to the top and cut and style my wig. Shouldn't be too much trouble to get done ^^ I'm not sure what I'll wear the second day yet.. Perhaps Lydia Deetz so I can get some pictures in it (I would like to mention I am actually watching the Beetlejuice cartoon right now XD)! But who knows.. It'll be rewearing something  for sure though! After that I have to get to work on Zatanna and Troia for the Wizard World convention the weekend after, those I am a little worried about :S I really need to get my butt in gear on those! I don't want to start working on those till I'm done Mistress 9 though! Bwa so much to do so little time!

As for the other conventions I'm attending this year there have been some massive overhauling done in terms of what costumes are being done when.. All the info on that is on my website (link at the top of the journal) Also I think I'm going to start making a bunch of new styles of hats! If anyone would like to see something in particular let me know! I'm always happy to get suggestions ^^ A couple things I know for sure I'm going to make are Protoman Helmet from Megaman (probably Megaman too), Cactuar from Final Fantasy, Rabite from Secret of Mana, Meowth from Pokemon, Fox, raccoon and standard things like that..

Also As I'm sure anyone who's watching me has noticed I want to make a hoodie for myself and I have a poll about what I should make!! I'd love to hear what people think ^^

Anywho I think that is good for now!

Ciao,
~Scion

Actual Update

~~*~~NEWS~~*~~
So I am posting two journals.. cause I did that long long tag thing... and figured I should post my actual update separately!

Okay so a bit of an update... things have been... crazy? Last week my furnace died and my cat ate string.. the two things seem somewhat completely unrelated.. but They really aren't. The furnace was dead beyond repair, as what's my air conditioner. So I had to replace those, which cost... way way way more than I have ever spent in one go. And then the day the furnace was installed my cat ate the string. Six feet of butchers twine to be exact. So much string that we had to go to the emergency vet and she had to have surgery to remove it, and that also cost an insanely large amount of money (and I do mean insanely large) collectively between the cat and the furnace air conditioning combo.. I could have bought a new car.. and a nicer car then my car! So yes.. hellish week was hellish.. and crazy!

But things have settled down since then. I went fabric shopping today to pick up the last few things I need for the commissioned costumes I am doing for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. I also picked up some fabric for a costume for myself! I found this perfect glittery two way stretch fabric that looked like stars.. So I am now going to be making a Donna Troy costume! I couldn't pass up this fabric! It was just too perfect. And I managed to get exactly what I need (including lining) for just over six bucks! God I love inexpensive costumes! So many of my costumes are not inexpensive.. in the least! So it is always very very nice to be able to find something that is really perfect and a good price!
Also speaking of inexpensive costumes, I have enough little scraps left over from the commissioned costumes to be able to make myself a Zatana costume.. So I will also be doing that! I have the tail coat and the top hat started. I have to admit I am very very excited about it! I've been dying to do more comic cosplays and now I have two that should be relatively simple to get done (and were a great price!) both of these will likely be worn at the upcoming Wizard World Comicon in Toronto in late March.

In other costume news I am also making a Mistress 9 costume. This seems to be the year for me making a lot of easy inexpensive costumes. I decided on Mistress 9, one, because I bought the fabric for it YEARS ago when I started at Fabricland, two I really like the character, and three because I need the wig for my costume for Anime North anyways (which does not at all fit into the easy of inexpensive category). So yeah... that will be for the March Toronto Anime Convention.. I must say I am excited about March!

Right after I get those done I have to get my butt in gear on the Anime North costumes. The Powerpuff Girls dress should be done when I take my trip to Ottawa to visit Paper Stars. We are planning on sewing my Buttercup and her Bubbles costumes together. And they are quite simple dresses so it should go nice and quick. However I am also making The Dark and Light from Cardcaptor Sakura for us.. And those will not be as simple.. at all! I have to admit I'm starting to get a little worried about them T-T I have never attempted something quite that complicated.. not only for myself, but as a commission for someone else! At least it's two of the same dress... So I can mess up mine and then learn from that and make Paper-stars properly XD

I would also like to say that the huge surge of activity that :iconcos-club: got when we became a group is amazing! I am so happy we were able to stay afloat in the new group system! Everyone should come and check out the club (and I'm not just saying that because I'm the founder) we have some amazing members! And we are always so happy to have more! And thank you so much to Uta and Stargazer for all their help. I would not be able to keep up with everything if it weren't for you guys!

Anywho I think that is a good enough update for now!
Wish me luck on all my sewing! =^o^=

Toodles,
~Scion

~~*~~TAG THINGY~~*~~
Taken from :iconstargazer-gemini:

TAG!
You're it!

1) What's the best part of cosplay for you?
For me I think the best part is being able to make costumes I can be proud of, and then getting to go out and show them off while spending time with like minded people. I have met so many amazing people at conventions ^^

2) Do you use the term "kameko" ("camera-kid")?
I have heard it only once before... so no, no I do not use it.

3) Do you read event catalogs?
I’m not sure I know what that is, so I’m going to say no I don’t.

4) Do you rsvp to events?
Very rarely. I tend to hope I can get to a lot of event’s, but there are only ever really two I know for sure I can get to.

5) Do you want to attend more events? Or are you content to remain in your local area?
I would like to, but the thing is there just so much going on all the time. And as much as I do love cosplay, it is a hobby. Hopefully one day when I don’t need to work so much I’ll be able to start branching out to more conventions outside of my area.

6) Do you use color contacts?
Always! I have the darkest dark brown eyes naturally, which don’t really work for a whole lot of characters. Also I am a perfectionist, and I think contacts give your cosplays that little something extra ^

7) Do you make your own costumes or do you buy them?
I have always, and will always make my own. I have nothing against people who don’t, but for me that’s the whole fun of cosplay. I always try to make absolutely every part of my costumes. Props, wigs, clothing anything I can!

8) Do you stick to one genre?
No, I tend to drift all over the place XD

9) Do you think that when cosplaying, one should stick to the genre of a given event?
Umm I think it’s a good idea, but I know most conventions allow a little leeway. I mean if I’m at an anime convention and I see and amazing comic book cosplay, I’m not going to think any less of it because they aren’t at a comic book convention.

10) Does it bother you when people break genre?
No, it’s a hobby. Have fun with it!

11) Does it bother you when people know nothing about the series they're cosplaying?
Not really. I’m a little guilty of that myself my future plans include characters I don’t really know. I pick a lot of characters I really like, but sometimes I pick character just because they have a really really good look to them! I tend to always do a bit of research on them though, just so I don’t look completely wrong for pictures and things ^^

12) Does it bother you if people only know a little about the series they're cosplaying?
I seem to agree with Stargazer.. this seems to be the same question as above....

13) Does it bother you if people are familiar with the series, but have no affection for the character they're cosplaying?
Ummm I think this is sort of a trick question.. Cause they must at least slightly like the character, otherwise why would they be cosplaying as them? I suppose if they just liked the costume and not the character themselves that doesn’t really bother me... So long as they don’t bash anyone who comes up and says they like the character.

14) Does it bother you if someone else is cosplaying the same character you are?
Not at all! I always love to see how other people attempt the same things I do! People always go about things in different ways and you never know, you may learn something from that person who made the same costume as you! Also, clearly you have something in common with that person, so why should it bother you?

15) Do you like posed shots?
Oh god yes! Non posed pictures are just.... Bad! Always always bad! So very very very bad! Now that being said your pose doesn’t have to be anything insanely epic, just something!

16) Do you like candid shots?
In most cases absolutely not! I hate when people take my picture without my permission. And actually if I notice someone doing it, I tend to turn away. There is only one exception to this rule, and that is that you are someone I know quite well. Good friends can get away with candid shots, but that’s pretty much it!

17) Do you think cosplaying characters from adult games or pornographic material is in bad taste?
Another trick question! There is a place for everything. I would say if it’s not an overly revealing costume, by all means go nuts, if people recognise you that’s fine, but people who haven’t seen it will be unaware that it’s anything out of the ordinary. If it is an overly sexual costume, keep it to conventions with an older demographic.

18) If there's a problem at an event, do you jump to conclusions about the parties involved?
Umm well if it doesn’t concern me at all. I don’t bother even thinking about it. If it does concern me, I would hope I know what’s actually going on. If not I would try to keep an open mind and figure out what happened. Much like I would deal with problems  in the real world!

19) How many times do you cosplay in one month?
In one month? It depends on the month! Sometimes I don’t cosplay in a month, sometimes I cosplay several times in a month! Do you actually want me to do the math and average it out?

20) Do you go to photo shoots?
I do like to schedule photo shoots! I love love to have nice photos of what I’ve worked on. I have never been to a large group photo shoot though.. I’m not sure if I will start.. I’m not all that good with time management at conventions.

21) Have you ever been included in a cosplay CD-ROM?
I have no idea what that is.. So I don`t think so.. but maybe?

22) Is casual cosplay okay?
Do you mean casual cosplays.. Or like cosplaying in everyday life? Cause I mean casual costumes are great! I actually tend to make one for every con I go to, it’s always nice to have a day to. However cosplaying casually outside of a con I think may be a little odd... I mean using pieces of cosplays you like as regular clothing or dressing uniquely is fine. But I think if you just spent every day dressed as an actual character that may be a little odd.

23) Are you okay with your face appearing on the internet?
Sort of.. I got used to it. After my first convention I wouldn’t let anyone I know post any pictures of me.. But then other people started posting them, and I realised the beast was too big to be stopped. So now I figure I may as well just go with the flow. It’s very rare that I’ve ever had anyone recognise me outside of cosplay ^^

24) Do you find yourself thinking people are "too old" for cosplay? How old is too old?
I don’t think you can ever be too old for cosplay! I have no plans on stopping cosplaying anytime soon!

25) Do people who walk around in gothic lolita fashion bug you?
Nope not at all.. that is unless they have a holier than thou attitude while doing so.

26) Do you think Chinese dresses count as "cosplay"?
In theory, no, no I do not. However I think they can be used as part of a cosplay (as in if it’s more than just a Chinese dress)

27) What bothers you the most about cosplay?
Well. For myself, my poor time management skills. I am so so very bad for making costumes the night before a conventions, or while I’m at the convention sewing in the hotel room. As for the convention itself, where there are tons of people in any given place there are bound to be problems. I don’t deal well with high school style drama.. And cosplay seems to bring that kind of behaviour out of a lot of people.

28) Do you think it's important to be "in character"?
Yes and no. I think for pictures it’s a very very good idea. I mean you want to look like the character! As for wandering around the convention, I don’t think it’s that important, though there us nothing wrong with it XD

29) Does it make you nervous to be eyed by regular visitors at a public event?
That depends on what you mean by eyed. Are we talking “Wow she’s cute:!” eyed.. if so not really.. If we’re talking “Wow what’s wrong with her?” that also doesn’t really bother me all that much. “Now if we are talking “Hey she looks like she might have some healthy organs I can harvest!” Now that that would creep me right out.

30) Do pre-scheduled cosplay appearances by popular cosplayers annoy you?
Ummm not really. I never tend to pay attention to that kind of thing. So it doesn’t annoy me, I’m just indifferent to it.

31) Do you tell other people your best locations for shoots?
Of course I do! If anyone ever asks I’m more than happy to tell them! And if I ever hear people discussing locations I’m always willing to toss some ideas in ^^

32) Do you put on your makeup before your wig or after?
Always before, when my real hair is pulled back in a wig cap and out of my face. I tend to do touch ups throughout the day though, and ALWAYS right before photos.

33) Do you know a lot about the series' you cosplay?
Currently, yes. Though I will admit the are a couple costumes I would like to do in the future that are from series I don’t know a whole lot about.

34) Do you wear costumes only once or many times?
I wear my costumes until I no longer think they are good enough to wear. For some costumes that is only once, for other costumes it’s many many many times.. So it really differs from costume to costume.

35) When you've decided what costume to do next, do you share that information with other people?
Usually. There are a couple costume ideas I keep to myself. But I always tend to tell a couple people (Paper-stars always <3) because it’s always nice to find out if they wish to make a costume that goes with yours! (Yay group for MTAC!!)

36) Do you want to be in cosplay magazines?
That would be amazing! I’ve actually been in cosmode, al be it that was a tiny tiny almost nonexistent picture.

37) What's the most important part of cosplay for you?
Being able to do something I love, spend time with my friends (and meet new friends) and be able to share my hobby with liked minded people.

--Event Participation Questions--

38) How active are you cosplaying in your own community?
I think I’m fairly active. I try to make it out to as many conventions a year as I can. Also I am the founder of :iconcos-club: here on DA. We work to raise awareness of cosplay around the world and help inform people of upcoming events .

39) What do you wear on the day of an event?
What ever costume it was I planned to wear. Normally I make at least one new costume per event.

40) Do you eat lunch on event days?
I always try to... But it doesn’t always pan out that way.

41) Do you eat breakfast before attending events?
Not usually... I don’t really ever eat breakfast.. So conventions are no different from any other day in that sense.

42) How long does it take you to change?
It really all depends on the costume. Sometimes I can get dressed in a matter of minutes (for things like my Selphie and Princess Jupiter) but then there are the outfits like my Lulu and Cortana. Those type of costumes generally take over an hour to get into completely.

43) Do you think it looks geeky to attend an event with a big SLR camera?
Of course not! Great cameras generally take great pictures! I myself own a digital SLR.. Though I have to admit I always forget to bring it to cons, or I end up passing it off to a friend because I don’t have the time to actually take pictures.

44) What camera do you use? A compact? An SLR?
hmmmm well I answered this in the last question.. I have a digital SLR. Though I would like to also get a little point and shoot compact.. Just so I can hide it a little better for pictures. It’s really hard to be in costume and pose for pictures while you are travelling around with a giant camera.

45) Are you afraid of cameramen? Are you cool with them?
As long as they ask for pictures and don’t creep about taking them I am completely fine with them! Actually I have quite a few “cameramen” friends

46) Are you one of the first to line up to get inside?
I do not do lines... I preregister for every convention I can. And if there are huge lines to do things I generally tend to wait and go in after the lines have died down if I can.

47) Do you not mind showing up late?
I don’t really like being late.. But I’m always so busy the day before cons that I am generally late. Most cons I arrive on the Friday but don’t actually start doing many con things till the Saturday.

48) Do you have a small after party or a huge get-together?
There is almost always a post con dinner with a few good friends after the convention. It’s sort of become a tradition and I have to say it is actually one of my favourite parts of going to conventions.

49) Do you like karaoke?
I think so! I’ve never really been.

50) Are you tolerant of bad singers?
I do try to be. I am very good with bad singers who are being brave and trying something new.. But I’m not all that great with bad singers who think they are amazing and act accordingly.

51) Do topics unrelated to animation and manga bug you? Or do you think it's okay to talk about anything at all?
At conventions or in general? In either case no they don’t bug me.. there are far far far more things out there than just animation and manga.

52) Do you eat lunch while inside event areas?
I tend not to buy food in conventions.. cause it always really really expensive.. But I do try to eat.

53) Can you handle the cold?
I am good with really really cold weather. But I’m not all that great with slightly cold weather.. that’s when I tend to feel the coldest. I love winter though (I’m a true Canadian girl)

54) Do you buy doujinshi at events?
I actually had to google that term :S so no no I do not.

55) Do you make doujinshi to sell at events?
Can’t say I ever have.

56) Do you have a group that participates in group events?
More often than not!

57) Are you a member of a cosplay circle/club?
I am a member of my online club (though I don’t think that’s really what this costume is referring too) and I have a few friends I quite often do costumes with.. But I’m not sure I would go so far as to say I’m a member of a circle or club.

58) When the event is over, how late do you stay out?
As mentioned in a previous question I almost always do a post con dinner. The time those take tends to vary, but I’m never in a huge rush to get home.

59) If a new face approaches you at an event and takes up a few minutes of your time, are you annoyed?
Never! It’s always super nice to talk to new people! Unless I’m in a real rush to get somewhere I will always be happy to chat

60) Do you go to cosplay dance parties?
Never have.. and I’m not sure if I ever will.

61) Do you think your Layer status is higher than others is a lot of people want to take your picture? Does it bother you?
I’m not really sure I understand this question.. I’m always happy to let people take my picture.. And if the question is do I think more people want my picture or I’m more popular.. I don’t know? I’ve never really thought about it. Probably not..

62) Do you get jealous of other cosplayers having a lot of pictures taken of them?
No, people get pictures taken for a lot of different reasons. I`m just happy cosplay is getting attention, regardless of who it is who`s actually getting the attention ^^

63) You're asked for a picture but have something else to do, do you refuse?
Most of the time I will stop and let someone take a picture.. Unless I’m really running late for something (usually the green room for a masquerade or a photo shoot) and then I may have to politely refuse. But I always tell people to stop me again if they see me!

64) When you take pictures of people at events, do you give them all copies of the prints?
I try to post pictures where people can find them. Like in the events pages of facebook and cosplay.com. But I seldom take peoples contact info to send them the pictures. If they ask I am always more than happy to though!

--Photo Shoot Questions--

65) (at a studio) Do you give a copy of each photo to all of the participants?
All of the photographers I work with either send me the photos or post them on their websites. I always try to inform anyone in the pictures who may not have been notified yet ^^

66) How do you approach photo shoots? As a chance to gather with friends and goof off or as a meeting to take nice pictures?
I tend not to do large group shoots, so I only ever really have the tiny private shoots, in which case I treat it as a meeting to take nice pictures. That doesn’t mean we don’t have fun with it.. but it does mean that we aren’t completely goofing off.. I mean the reason we gather is to get nice pictures!

67) Are you particular about how you look in the test shots before the shoot? Do you mind how you look in general?
I almost always check to see how fabrics photograph.. certain fabrics can look like complete garbage in pictures. Also I always try to do a bit of a makeup test before the con or photoshoot. I always like to look my best for cosplays!

68) When you take photos, do you prefer shots from the front or other angles?
I always like to have shots that show off the costume.. but other than that I’m really open for almost anything the photographer can come up with (within reason of course :P )

69) Are you bothered by receiving lots of photos? Are you happy?
I’m always happy when people appreciate my costume enough to want to take my picture! It can be a little overwhelming at times, but it’s always enjoyable ^^

70) When you take photos, do you photograph only people you know personally and like? Or do you look for other people with great costumes to photograph too?
I do both! I tend to take a lot of pictures of my friends.. But not really costume posed shots.. just general hanging out with friends shots. However I also love to get shots of great cosplayers and characters I love whenever I pass someone who catches my eye!

71) Do you wander around to meet people at events or do you keep to your own group?
I’m inclined to say I stick with my group. But I always seem to meet new people, and actually my group I met at various cons... So I think I do a little of both! I always seem to meet someone new at almost every con that I keep in touch with outside of the convention.

72) How many photos do you usually take with your own camera?
Sadly not that many. I took a lot my first convention, and now every convention I go to it seems to be less and less, whenever I don’t forget my camera I tend to pass it off to a friend so they can take photos for me. For some reason I always tend to be busy at conventions.

73) How many photos do you usually take for others?
Not many...

74) Do you mind if people resize or crop the pictures you've taken to make them look better?
Not at all!

75) Do you crop and resize pictures others have taken for you?
It depends on the pictures.. Usually not because most of my photos are private photo shoot photos the photographers have already sorted through.. But just around the convention shots I tend to mess with a little if I plan on posting them somewhere.

76) Have you ever set up a photo shoot by yourself?
Private shoots yes ^^As I’ve mentioned a few times before I haven’t done any large group shoots.

77) Do you check shoot information beforehand?
Of course.. But as started those are generally private shoots... So I really should know where the photographer and I are meeting XD However that being said a lot of my private shoots were set up by running into the photographer deciding right then that we’d do pictures and then wandering off to find a photo shoot location.

78) Do you like it when there are a lot of people in the shoot area? Or do you prefer small events?
I am not ever really comfortable with large groups, so small events are right up my alley.

79) What size (how many people) is the best for a shoot?
Most of the shoots I’ve done are just me. Unless I am part of a group cosplay (like the Deathbusters)

80) What time of day do you like to take photos?
Any time that works

81) Do you prefer indoor or outdoor shots?
Either one

82) Which do you dislike more - hot weather or cold weather?
I would rather be cold than hot.

83) Do you know any cameramen?
Several!

84) Do you eat in the photo area?
Why would you eat in the photo area?

85) Do you like taking parts-shots? Or do you dislike them?
I am not sure what a “parts-shot” is. If it’s a progress shot, not usually. If it’s a shot of a piece of the costume.. it depends.. If it’s something inappropriate. No...  If it’s not any of the above.. Maybe?

86) Do you retouch your photos?
Not usually.

87) Are you annoyed by people who don't retouch their photos?
Not at all... That seems like an odd thing to have bug you. Although I will say people who insanely over retouch their photos sometimes bug me.. You should never have to alter what your body actually looks like! I’m sure you are beautiful as you are!! BE PROUD OF IT!

88) Do you use reflectors?
I have had reflectors used on me. But I do not own a reflector so I have never used a reflector when taking pictures of someone else.

89) Which is worse ~ breaking the rules and getting great pictures, or following them and getting poor ones?
It depends on what kind of rules we are talking about here.... However if no one gets hurt and it’s not stupidly dangerous, I’m fine with bending  the rules a little to get great photo ~,^

---Friend Questions-- Too long...

90) Why are your friends your friends?
Because I like them. They're interesting, they entertain me, I care for them, they care about me? You know friends things.

91) If you hang out for one day, do you consider yourselves friends?
I-guess?

92) Do you give copies of your photos to others?
Why?

93) Do you want to make more friends?
Yuh!

94) Do you at least remember the names of people you meet at events?
Generally, or usernames or the character they were ^^"

95) Do you find yourself adjusting your behavior to that of the character you're cosplaying when dealing with people dressed as characters your character knows?
Sometimes.

--Home Page/Websites--

96) Do you receive permission every time you post a photo of someone else online?
I tend not to post pictures of other people online..

97) Do you get angry if a foreign site links to your page? Or are you flattered?
I think it always nice, provided they give credit... and aren’t bashing me or anything.

98) Are you happy to get mail from Layers overseas or does it scare you?
There seem to be a lot of confusing question in this survey thingy.. Is a Layer a cosplayer? If so it’s nice to hear from them... But if that’s not what you are talking about I have no clue....

99) Do you try to increase your web site? Or doesn't it matter to you?
I expand my website a little every time I have a new costume or anything important to add!

100) Do you not particularly care who links to you? Or do you ask people not to link without permission?
Linking to me doesn’t bother me.. Stealing my images and not giving credit however does bug me.

101) Do you credit the location or studio when posting photo shoot images?
I always always always give the photographer credit.. but as for location, I’ve never really done photos anywhere other than a con.. So I don’t usually credit location.

---Final Question--- (finally)

What do you think people who have "good cosplay manners" are like?
The same as people who have good manners in general. Polite, kind and courteous people.

[DONE!]

Right I need to tag people.

I’m not tagging anyone in particular.. If you’d like to do it, do it!
